    Always a good reminder. But there is another comparison, maybe no as accurate. Unfortunately I can’t find the source, it goes somewhat like this:

    Register access: Eat the sandwich in front of you
    Cache access: Get the sandwich from the side board and eat it
    RAM Access: go to the kitchen, get the sandwich from the fridge and eat it.
    Disk access: go to the supermarket, buy components for a sandwich, prepare it and eat.
    Tape access: grow the rye, raise the cow , build a mill etc to make the components for a sandwich, prepare it and eat.
    etc.
