Why I can’t transfer money with my Monitor upright

Berliner Sparkasse Onlinebanking FAQ: »Why do I get the message ‘mobile device, can’t perform smsTAN money transfer when using my Desktop computer.« »A possible cause is the display resolution. Your computer is being detected as a mobile device by our online banking system. smsTAN is not working from a mobile device. Solution: Change the display resolution.«

So 1920×1080 work, but 1080×1920 doesn’t.

Dann weiß ich jetzt auch, wie man den Mobile-Check umgeht. Einfach das Handy quer halten und “request desktop site” machen.

Und vielleicht noch was mit dem User-Agent, ist aber auch nix Wildes.

    I’d think:
“Ah, someone tries to outsmart me. Let’s try to counter-outsmart them by changing the window to half height.”

And after that I’d try a mobile browser in landscape + desktop mode

But, hold on a minute: You’re using sms TAN? Really? That’s not a nice thing.

At least they are trying to prevent transcations from smartphones. In Switzerland, some banks have system, where the second authentication factor is a code scanned by an app on the phone. Enter crendentials in browser on PC, scan code, enter displayed response code.

It’s a nice system because the app works even on an old smartphone with no connectivity. But they have a “nice” feature built in, which effectively kills 2FA: if you have the authentication and the banking app installed on the same device, the code is automatically read…
